On November 19, men around the globe come together to celebrate the difference every man can and does make in his community. International Men’s Day invites role models to set examples of health, well-being, and integrity for young men and boys.
Men are encouraged to look beyond themselves to seek opportunities to teach young boys the values, character, and responsibilities of being a man. This can and should be with one’s own children, yet there are many boys without a father or male role model to guide them along in life.
HOW TO OBSERVE
Inspire other men to step up and lead in their communities. Be sure to use #InternationalMensDay on social media while sharing the ideas and concepts behind the Day.
This day is an opportunity for men to remind one another they do make a difference through the contributions they make in their homes and communities.
Jerome Teelucksingh, a lecturer of history at the University of the West Indies in Trinidad Tobago, founded International Men’s Day in 1999. He was simply answering a call from as far back as the 1960’s for a day such as this to celebrate the accomplishments of men. Discover more visiting the website.
