The temperature has dropped to the teens here in Dallas.  It may be just as cold where you are! Here are a couple of tasty winter drink recipes to keep you warm.

Serves 4
1/2 cup peanut butter
1 tin (395g) condensed milk
1 liter milk, warmed
chopped peanuts, to garnish

Combine peanut butter and condensed milk in a small pot over a medium heat, stirring constantly until thick.  Add the milk and stir until combined. Then bring to the boil, whisking until foamy.

Pour into cups or glasses and garnish with chopped peanuts.

Serves 4
3 tbsp cocoa powder
1/4 cup white sugar
pinch salt
1 tsp vanilla essence
1 liter milk
red food coloring
whipped cream, to serve
chocolate shavings, to decorate

In a medium pot over low heat, combine the cocoa powder, sugar, salt and vanilla essence. Stir constantly until the mixture starts to thicken. Stir in the milk and allow to heat up before adding the red food coloring until a bright red drink is formed.

Serve immediately with whipped cream and a dusting of cocoa powder or chocolate shavings.

Serves 4
1 cup white sugar
2 tbsp water
3/4 cup cream
1 tbsp butter
pinch of sea salt
1 litre milk, warmed
mini marshmallows, to garnish
chocolate sauce, to serve

To make the salted caramel, place the sugar and water in a pan and heat gently until the sugar is dissolved. Bring to the boil and simmer, without stirring, until the mixture begins caramelising. Once the syrup reaches a toffee colour, pour in the cream and drop in the butter, swirl to combine. Allow to cool completely, then stir in the salt. Divide the salted caramel between four mugs, then gently pour in the warm milk. Top with mini marshmallows (you can toast them with a blow torch, if desired). Drizzle with chocolate sauce, stir and enjoy.
