Like Wise Boomer Chics, you just gotta love the “Blues”.  Jacqueline Robinson, Wise Boomer Chic, along with TO,  young Tim Owens, joined her friends from the Trinity River Blues Society (TRBS) as they hosted the North Texas Blues Challenge at the famous Keys Lounge. If you live in Fort Worth, Texas then you know about this Blues joint, Keys! It was good Blues music, food and fun for Wise Boomer Chics at the Trinity River Blues Society Challenge!

Hosting Venue – Keys Lounge – Forth Worth, Texas

The Keys Lounge – Fort Worth, Texas – Shake Anderson Band Keyboardist, Band Challenger

I live on the East side of Dallas and rarely, if ever get to the West side. Sunday afternoon was a good day to venture out to a Blues joint! The hosting venue, Keys Lounge, is a live-music/neighborhood bar that’s been around in one form or another for about 30 years. Keys Lounge owner and veteran bluesman Danny Ross has expanded the Southside venue by including acts such as Doyle Bramhall, Fort Worth’s Tejas Brothers, and Gary Nicholson, a.k.a. Whitey Johnson.

The Challenge

The Keys Lounge – Fort Worth, Texas – Janky

The 2nd Annual Trinity River Blues Society IBC Challenge featured:

Jacqueline Robinson and Jackson Eli

The band challenge started at 1:00pm.  There were a couple of really good warm up bands before the real challengers took to the stage. With exactly 20 minutes each these groups brought their best talent, playing 3-4 songs within the time-frame, as the audience swayed, thumbed and bumped to their music. Local musicians served as judges to select the baddest Blues band to represent Dallas at the next International Blues Challenge in Memphis!

We recognized one judge, Jackson Eli, a Dallas Athletic Club band favorite. Other judges included Aimee Pietzch, a musician; Darrell Chumley, an internet personality and actor and The host of Barside Jive; Brad Springs owns the venue Six Springs Tavern; and, James “Blues Hound” Nagel, Producer and Programmer for 90.1FM KPFT Houston.
